The majority of the projects are ship related. My ship projects to date have been commercial kits offered by various companies. At this point in time I am becoming more and more interested in working on a scratch built projects. There are several models from the Harold Hahn school that are likely candidates. |

This site documents the construction of the 'San Juan Nepomuceno'. The original ship was a 74-gun Spanish navio ('ship-of-the-line') that fought against Admiral Nelson's fleet at the legendary Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Sailing as the last of the Franco-Spanish line, she was caught between the British Royal Navy ships Dreadnought, Polyphemus and Prince. |

This web site is dedicated to the rebirth of an old hobby, building tall ship models. Within the pages of this site you will find a photo gallery of ship models during various stages of construction, as well as completed ships and images of the many ship kits available today. We hope for this site to become an interactive page where both novice and experienced builders can come together to share experiences and help those with questions. |

Guzman Ship Models
I have been building models for about 20 years and now that I have retired from a career of teaching Texas History, I have time to build to my heart's content. I have built around 36 ship models or models dealing with certain aspects of a ship. My models are in various scales (lately more at 1/48 scale) and are made using various hardwoods. I have taken 13 of my models to contests and they have won, at last count, 57 awards over the years in scale model contests in San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Dallas and Port Arthur. On this page are some of the models that I have built in the last ten year and ones you can see on my website. |
