Grain: Straight to slightly wavy.

Figure: Pale tans, grays and pinks.

Texture: About equal to Red Maple but finer in grain and uniform.

Properties: Elastic and bendable. Works easily with hand and power tools. The wood holds a clean sharp edge. finishes very smooth.

Uses: Deck and hull planking for a wheathered look. Suitable for masting and spars. Sweet Gum and Red Gun are one in the same tree however Red Gum is highly figured as where Sweet Gun is white in color.
