Texture: Very smooth even and moderatley coarse.

Properties: Mahogany does not warp, twist, shrink or split thus making it the worlds finest cabinet and furniture wood. Its working characteristics are outstanding in all wood working, including cutting, carving, turning and sanding. When a sanding sealer is applied a glass smooth surface is achieved. The wood glues well and takes all types of finishes.

Uses: Mahogany was recorded in use in Spain as early as 1563 and in Nottingham castle in 1680. The famed Bermuda Sloops were built of Mahogany. In model work, it makes the best structural wood for framing and timbering. Also makes excellent hull and bulkward planking.
